Bacon County Middle School closed out the 2016 Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference season with three wins to extend its winning streak to seven games.
The Red Raiders (11-2) began the three-game-slate with an 11-0 rout of visiting Waycross Middle School last Monday, March 14. BCHS beat Vidalia 12-4 a day later (no information was provided) and finished off the season with a 11-4 victory against Arthur Williams.
The Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference tournament begins Wednesday with quarterfinal action. The third-seed Red Raiders will host No. 6 Martha Puckett at 4 p.m.
The semfinals and finals will be played Saturday at the site of the No. 1 seed Jeff Davis Middle School. The BCMS-Martha Puckett winner will face the winner of No. 2 Pierce Middle-No. 7 Brantley Middle-No. 10 Waycross Middle at 12:30 p.m., in the second semifinal game. The championship is scheduled for 2 p.m.

BCMS used a six-run third and a five-run fourth to turn back the visiting Bulldogs.
Drake Miles tossed one-hit ball over four innings striking out three and walking two to get the win. Drew Elrod finished up with a perfect inning of relief fanning one.
The Red Raiders left the bases loaded in the first and stranded a runner in the second. They sent 11 batters to the plate in the third scoring six times and left the bases loaded for a second time. Chase Kirkland (3-for-4) led off the inning with a single, stole second and took third on a groundout. Dalton Anderson’s RBI single plated the only run BCMS would need.
Bacon Middle’s next two runs came on a four-base error allowing Anderson and Trey Thomas to score for a 3-0 advantage. Carson Taylor walked with pinch-runner C.J. Preston stealing second ad eventually scoring on a single by Nathan White (2-for-3).
White came around to score on a Bulldog error on a ball hit by Mason Mikell. He scored on the backend of back-to-back hits by Bennett Arney (3-for-4) and Kirkland.
The Red Raiders sealed the win with a five-run fourth. Anderson’s solo blast on the second pitch of the inning ignited the rally. Taylor’s RBI fielder’s choice, Mikell’s RBI groundout and Arney’s run-scoring triple supplied the damage.

BCMS spotted the visiting Yellow Jackets a 1-0 first inning advantage before putting together a six-run inning to take control.
Anderson’s (2-for-3, three RBIs) two-run double in the bottom of the first sparked the Red Raiders’ rally. Elrod was hit by a pitch later in the inning with the bases loaded to increase the lead to 3-1. White’s (1-for-3) RBI groundout, a run-scoring infield hit by Mikell (3-for-3) and a steal of home by Taylor capped the inning.
Martha Puckett got one run back in the top of the second with BCMS extending the lead to 9-2 with a three-run fifth. Anderson delivered his second two-run double of the game with Trey Thomas (1-for-3) adding a run-scoring single.
Both teams scored two runs each in the sixth. Drake Miles (3-for-4) had a run-scoring double and later stole home for the final run.
Elrod (5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 K, 3 BB, 2 HBP) got the win for the Red Raiders. Miles got the final out in the sixth with Arney closing out the seventh.
