Bacon County’s junior varsity baseball team opened its season with a 9-4 road win at Clinch County last Thursday.

The Red Raiders bolted out to a 4-0 lead and continued to pull away for the victory.

Dalton Youmans (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 K, 2 BB), Sky Kaeck (3 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 K, 2 BB, 2 WP) and Alex Turner (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB) combined to limit the Panthers to just four hits. Kaeck got the win in relief.

Adam Grayson (2-for-3) scored Bacon’s first run in the opening frame on an infield hit by Anascio Washington (1-for-3).

The Red Raiders plated three runs in the top of the third. Jacob Carter got things started getting hit by a pitch leading off the inning. After a sacrifice bunt by Xavier Hayes, Grayson singled to left and took second on an error with Carter scoring.

Grayson eventually scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead. Jacob Holton (2-for-3) drew a walk, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on Lane Foster’s (2-for-4) double for a 4-0 advantage.
